Nancy Pelosi: Obama Should Run For Re-Election On An Anti-Congress Platform…

CNN – House Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi said she is comfortable with President Barack Obama running for re-election on an anti-Congress platform.

During an interview broadcast Sunday on CNN’s “State of the Union,” the former House speaker said the president is right to wage a race against the Republican majority in the House.

“I think that the president – and for the good of the country, forget Democrats, Republicans – for the good of the country, I think it’s really important for the president to make the race that he is running against a do-nothing Congress,” Pelosi told CNN Chief Political Correspondent Candy Crowley.

Obama, frustrated with what he calls the inaction in Congress, has said he will act without Congressional approval when he can to pass his agenda. Following Republican threats to obstruct confirmations he put forth, Obama made four recess appointments Wednesday, including Richard Cordray as director of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.

When asked if the president is throwing her and Democrats under the bus by bypassing the chamber ahead of the 2012 elections, Pelosi said: “We don’t feel that way.”
